A recent study by the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse found that 4.8% of those who responded to a survey admitted to driving within two hours of smoking marijuana."The report also said that young people who drive under the influence of marijuana don’t think they will get caught."Young people often don't think their driving is as impaired by marijuana as it is by drinking.

The North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District (New Jersey) has revised its drug policies after a fierce debate that began in June of last year.
A team of researchers from the U.S., Britain and New Zealand have found that teens who begin drinking or using drugs before age 15 are more likely to engage in risky behavior well into their 30s than are individuals who remained mostly sober until much later. The risk was prevalent regardless of the teens' backgrounds or family histories. "The 'good kids,' who were without behavior problems as children and didn't have any of the family risk factors, but who began using drugs [...]

However, the vast majority (77%) expressed disapproval of those who experiment with this popular street drug.

The survey by the Center for Disease Control also found that three-quarters of those who try the drug experiment before age 15 years.

About one in five teens said that the drug produces euphoria, helps deal with boredom, and helps people to lose weight.
Those aren't words any parent wants to hear, but are exactly the words that a Michigan wife spoke to her husband about their teenage son. What followed were years of struggle; their son in and out of rehab, arrested, failing drug tests, and refusing to get the help he needed."My son became a liar and a con artist. That may seem redundant, but they are different. He conned the staff at the first in-patient rehab into believing he was road ready after only a week of treatment. Despite our [...]

In mid-January, an unsuspecting community was stunned to find out that one of the homes in their neighborhood was being used to grow marijuana. In August and September of last year, over 40 similar drug busts took place, exposing a San Francisco based crime syndicate's latest twist on drug trafficking and dealing."'Our theory is they're picking newer neighborhoods because of the relative anonymity.
There are many different kinds of addictions out there. Such as drugs, alcohol, and even addictions to gambling or even compulsive shopping! And there is a way out!! Twelve-step programs are unfortunatly not a very good source to get off of drugs or anyother kind of addiction because on average they only have a 30 something pecent success rate. Addicts need a rehab that has a higher success rate.

People who are abusing drugs or alcohol need to realize that you do not have very many choices left. Except that you will go to jail, die, or get sober; thats all there is to it no buts or whats about it!! Unfortuantly most twelve step programs do not have the technology to keep a person sober for the long run. People who are addicted need a program with a high success rate, life courses, and ways to pull the drugs form your system so that the person will not have cravings anymore!!

I was addicted to hydrocodone and my friend knew it and hated how I had become. She was in a bad car wreck and had to go to the hospital. Once she got out we stayed in touch by phone. I hadn't heard from her in a couple of weeks and of course I was still deep in my addiction and she called asking if I had any hydrocodone she could have. Of course I said no even though I had some, and then sadly she asked if I knew where she could get some. I was so saddened at how quickly she became addicted [...]
